On the 12th of January 2013 a workshop on first aid was held at Dr.K.K. SURGICAL AND PAEDIATRIC CENTRE, Selaiyur, Chennai, an eminent multispeciality hospital.The programme was held to create awareness among the whole society by conveying the message to teachers-the eye openers. Dr.S.Kasi and Dr.K.Kavitha Lakshmi were the speakers of the day and held a very interactive and lively session with the right tint of humour. DR.R.Kannappan, the administrative officer of the hospital delivered a wonderful speech at the start, praising the role of teachers in shaping the future pillars of the country. The doctors explained what first aid must be given to the victims of sunstrokes, choking, burns, drowning, electric shocks, and spinal cord injury. Around 75 teachers from various schools in and around Tambaram attended the workshop. They had the satisfaction of having learnt so many new things and of having a hands-on training on how to do CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). They felt very happy as they knew they would be able to save many lives from then. At the end, Dr.Kasi held a quiz to check how attentive the teachers had been. The programme ended with the sound of a great round of applause for the organizers. Everyone who was present at the workshop was very happy and thanked the doctors for having given them such a wonderful opportunity so that they could revive precious lives in crucial situations.
